They call it the Pohronsk\u00e1 Castle Trail. It consists of castle ruins or sites where castles once stood. In the past, these castles, fortresses, and towers were used to signal danger.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″][vc_single_image image=”49554″ img_size=”full” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space height=”24″][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n
When I was older, I also took part in the event that kicks off the season at the castles along the Pohronsk\u00e1 Castle Route.<\/p>\n
My friend Alex, his mom, and my mom and I went to Pust\u00fd Castle in Zvolen. We shone our flashlights at another castle. My mom says we could see \u017dak\u00fdl Castle in the \u0160tiavnica Mountains, and apparently even the guardhouse in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica and Zvolen Castle.  <\/p>\n
[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″][vc_single_image image=”49569″ img_size=”full” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space height=”24″ image_repeat=”no-repeat” background_image=”49441″][vc_column_text css=””]We walked there from the parking lot below Haputka all the way up to Horn\u00fd Castle. It was muddy\u2014I even slipped and took a tumble\u2014but it was fun. The walk from the parking lot took us about 40 minutes. It was uphill the whole way, but I made it\u2014only Alex grumbled a little \ud83d\ude0a But he liked it and said it was worth it in the end. By the time we reached the top, it was almost dark. There were a lot of people there and lots of kids with headlamps. I was wearing my dad\u2019s headlamp. My mom was using her phone as a flashlight.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24″][vc_single_image image=”49551″ img_size=”full” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text css=””]Before we shone our lights on the second castle, an archaeologist or historian from Pust\u00fd Castle told us some interesting facts about the castle. There was also a TV crew there filming a news report on it.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”49551,49554,49557,49569,49560,49563″ img_size=”400×400″ css=”” column_number=”4″ grayscale=”no” images_space=”gallery_with_space”][vc_empty_space height=”56px”][vc_column_text css=””]We wanted to go last year, too, but we didn’t because it was raining.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re planning to go again this year, but I don\u2019t know yet which castle we\u2019ll visit. I hope the weather will be nice so we can see the lights. The event will take place on March 13. In addition to Pust\u00fd Castle, \u0160\u00e1\u0161ov Castle, Revi\u0161te, Pe\u0165u\u0161a, Teplica, Sitno Hill, and \u017dak\u00fdl Castle in the \u0160tiavnica Mountains will definitely be participating, as well as the guardhouse in Krupina.    <\/p>\n
