Another great cycling season is starting in the Banská Bystrica Region, start preparing your bicycles so that you can fully enjoy it.

With the new season, the popular GET ON YOUR BIKE challenge is back again. So get on your bike as soon as the warm days arrive.

Head out on one of the cycling trips
in the Banská Bystrica Region

take a photo there, add the photo as a comment under the competition post on the Facebook social network, on the Za horami, za dolami profile

and
win great prizes.

Did you know that in the Banská Bystrica Region …

we have the longest tunnel in Central Europe through which a cycling route runs?
by bike you can go all the way to the sea, although a stone one?
following the route of a former forest railway, you will arrive at a beautiful waterfall?
by bike you will discover the highest blast furnace in central Slovakia?

And that’s far from all! Don’t believe it? Try it.
And we want to be there with you. Even if only through your photos.

Rules and instructions

The Get on Your Bike challenge runs from 22.6.2026 – 31.8.2026
During this time, go cycling as much as possible in the Banská Bystrica Region, take photos and publish them as comments under the GET ON YOUR BIKE posts, which you will always find pinned at the top of our ZA HORAMI, ZA DOLAMI profile on Facebook.

How do you join the challenge?

Choose from more than 200 cycling trips in the Banská Bystrica Region and get on your bike.
Take a photo or video anywhere along the route and publish it as a comment under one of the GET ON YOUR BIKE competition posts on Facebook ZA HORAMI, ZA DOLAMI
24 August 2026 we will draw one lucky winner who will receive an excellent grand prize worth €350. We will also draw 5 contestants who will receive MERCH (great goodies) in the ZA HORAMI, ZA DOLAMI design.
All photos published in the comments under ten posts with tips for cycling trips in the Banská Bystrica Region /every Monday we will publish a new tip/ including the first invitation post to the challenge will be included in the main draw.

Aim of the challenge

The aim of the GET ON YOUR BIKE challenge is to support cycle tourism, active movement and discovering the Banská Bystrica Region during the summer season. The challenge also motivates the public to share their own tips for cycling trips and helps highlight attractive cycling locations in the region.

All more than 200 tips for cycling trips in the Za horami, za dolami region can also be found in the CYCLING TRIPS section. We keep updating them for you so that you can discover beautiful views and hidden corners of our regions by bike as well.

Thanks to the sophisticated Outdoor Active platform, you will learn all the important information about your chosen cycling route – route length, duration of the cycling trip, elevation gain, a short route description, parking and refreshment options, and attractive places you must visit along the route.
