Contest Statute “Write, Read and Discover 2026”

 

The Contest Statute “Write, Read and Discover 2026” (hereinafter referred to as the “Statute”) regulates the conditions of participation in the contest, the method and procedure for carrying out the activities necessary for its implementation, and defines details concerning the rights and obligations of the contest participants.


I. Organizer, operator and co-organizer of the contest

The organizer and operator of the contest “Write, Read and Discover 2026” is Krajská organizácia cestovného ruchu Banskobystrický kraj Turizmus, Námestie SNP 1, 974 01 Banská Bystrica, entered in the Register of Tourism Organizations of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic No. 1943/2018/SCR, Company ID: 52132072, Tax ID: 2120899022
(hereinafter referred to as the “Organizer”).

The Organizer announces the contest entitled “Write, Read and Discover 2026” (hereinafter referred to as the “Contest”) according to the rules set out in this Statute.

The co-organizer of the contest is Verejná knižnica Mikuláša Kováča, Jilemnického 1710/48, 974 04, Banská Bystrica, Company ID: 35986999, Tax ID: 2021469571.


II. Subject matter, duration of the Contest and prizes

The subject of the Contest is the publication of articles promoting places in the Banská Bystrica Region on a blog located on the web domain www.zahoramizadolami.sk and awarding the most successful article. Articles approved by the editorial board and whose author expresses consent to their publication through an Informed Consent form are published.

The most successful article is the one that receives the most reactions during the contest period.

The Contest runs until September 30, 2026. The recording of reactions to articles will close on September 30, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. The winner will be determined no later than October 7, 2026.

The prize will be awarded to the author of the article with the highest number of reactions during the specified period.

The conditions for redeeming the prize are stated on the voucher, which the winner will receive from the organizer no later than October 31, 2026.

The winner will be contacted via email.

The Contest shall not be considered a game of chance within the meaning of Section 3 para. 5 of Act No. 171/2005 Coll. on Gambling and on amendments to certain acts. Within the meaning of Section 845 para. 1 of Act No. 40/1964 Coll., the Civil Code, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Civil Code”), the Contest is considered a game organized by the Organizer under the conditions and according to the rules set out in this Statute.


III. Conditions of participation in the Contest – participants in the Contest

Anyone may enter the Contest by sending an article to the email redakcia@zahoramizadolami.sk.

A person who is in an employment relationship or a similar relationship with the Organizer, operator or co-organizer, as well as persons close to such a person in accordance with the definition of this term under Section 116 of the Civil Code, may not participate in the Contest.

If it is proven that the winner of the Contest is one of the persons referred to in letter a) of this paragraph, that person is not entitled to the prize, the prize will not be awarded to them and it will be forfeited in favor of an alternate winner.

Any contestant who fraudulently interferes with the contest mechanism for the purpose of obtaining a prize, which they otherwise would not have won or would not even have been able to participate in the Contest, is also excluded from the Contest.

Each contestant is entitled to withdraw from the Contest.


IV. Prize for the winner

The Organizer has provided for the Contest a stay for 4 persons for 2 nights outside the main season with half board and entry to Aquathermal Dolná Strehová.

The Organizer reserves the right to change the prize in the event of a change in essential circumstances on the part of the provider of the stay or service. In such a case, the Organizer undertakes to replace the prize with another prize of equal value.


V. Handing over the prize

For the purpose of handing over the prize, the Contest winner is obliged to provide the Organizer with the requested cooperation.

The winner will be contacted via email.

For the purpose of handing over the prize, the Organizer is entitled to use the winner’s personal data pursuant to Act No. 18/2018 Coll. and to request from the Contest winner consent to the processing of their personal data to the extent of first name, surname, and the address to which the prize will be sent to the winner. Providing and confirming personal data is voluntary; however, failure to provide and confirm them shall be considered a failure to provide the cooperation on the part of the winner necessary for handing over the prize, which results in the loss of the right to the prize and the prize is forfeited in favor of an alternate winner.

Each winner has the right to refuse the prize.


VI. Final provisions

A prize in the Contest is not enforceable through the courts. The prize cannot be exchanged for cash.

In the event of any doubts regarding compliance with the Contest rules, the Organizer shall decide on the further procedure in accordance with this Statute and the generally binding legal regulations of the Slovak Republic. At the same time, the Organizer reserves the right to amend this Statute and/or the Contest conditions after its announcement. The Organizer reserves the right to shorten, interrupt or cancel the Contest, even before the expiry of the Contest period. The Organizer shall announce any amendment to the Statute and/or the Contest conditions or any shortening, interruption or cancellation of the Contest on its website.

The Organizer reserves the right to assess whether all Contest conditions have been met by the contestants and also the right to:

a) possible exclusion of a contestant from the Contest for failure to meet any of the Contest conditions;
b) denial of the right to the prize if the winner refuses to accept it;
c) handing over another prize to the winner that is similar in quality and price to the prize specified in Article IV of this Statute. The substitute prize may also be of a different type or nature than the prize under Article IV of this Statute.

The prize handed over to the winner constitutes a prize before taxation, and the Organizer and the co-organizer bear no responsibility for any tax obligations arising from the winner’s acceptance of the prize pursuant to Act No. 595/2003 Coll. on Income Tax. Any other related obligations shall be borne by the winner.

By entering the Contest, the contestant agrees to the Contest rules and this Statute and at the same time grants the Organizer and the co-organizer consent to the processing of photographs published in the Contest for further marketing use in the Contest and their personal data to the extent of first name, surname, and address for delivery of the prize pursuant to the provisions of Section 11 of the Personal Data Protection Act. The contestant’s rights in the processing of personal data are subject in particular to the regime of the Personal Data Protection Act (e.g. Section 28 et seq. of the Personal Data Protection Act). The provision and granting of consent to the processing of personal data is voluntary; however, failure to grant or provide it shall be considered a breach of the provisions of this Statute and the Contest conditions, which is associated with the loss of the right to the prize. The contestant or winner is entitled to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data at any time by written notice sent to the address of the Organizer’s registered office. Withdrawal of consent to the processing of personal data shall be considered a failure to provide the requested cooperation on the part of the contestant and a breach of the provisions of this Statute and the Contest conditions, which is associated with the loss of the right to the prize.
