Its mother is Kráľova hoľa and its uncle is the Danube. The Hron River is said to have been very mischievous in its youth and often troubled the giants who lived in what is now the Banská Bystrica Region. There was a time when important trade and transport routes ran through the Hron valley.
Today, an unforgettable paddling experience awaits you on the Hron: on the raft trip Down the Hron Nemecká – Mlynčok or from Nemecká to Šalková, you will experience faster sections with an adrenaline rush as well as calmer spots where you can let the current carry you and simply bask in the sun.
You can also enjoy great paddling adventures on the Ipeľ River in the Novohrad region. Whether you are experienced paddlers or amateur paddlers, hop into a canoe and let the waters of the Ipeľ carry you gently as you explore its banks with immensely diverse nature.
You can descend the Ipeľ from Holiše to the Kalonda waterworks or from Rapoviec to Kalonda. Another way to explore the natural scenery along the banks of the winding Ipeľ is from the launch point in the settlement of Rároš by the Madách Bridge to the port in Bušince, or from the port in Bušince to the take-out point in the village of Čeláre (this route can be completed by boat there and back, without transport), or from the settlement of Rároš, Madách Bridge, to the village of Čeláre.
All it takes now is one joyful shout before you set off on the rivers of the region Beyond the Mountains, Beyond the Valleys.
